Às Avessas (In Reverse) is a visual metaphor for humanity’s frailty in the face of technological transformation. The original photograph, taken in Coral Gables, Florida, depicts a group of people standing on a street lined with brightly colored umbrellas suspended between buildings — traditionally symbols of protection and shelter.
In this artwork, however, the image is intentionally inverted. This act of reversal shifts the umbrellas from protectors to ominous symbols. The inversion suggests a world turned upside down, where humanity is no longer in control — but rather exposed, shaped, or even overshadowed by the technologies it once created.
